Are you in a pickle over holiday gift shopping this year? Join Chef Richard Ruben, author of The Farmer's Market Cookbook, at Get Fresh on Sunday, November 16th from 2 to 4pm and learn how to make beautiful jars of pickled vegetables, flavored vinegars and herbed oils for Christmas gifts while supporting the local food movement at the same time! Community Markets is providing all the produce for the workshop from Community Markets’ Park Slope Farmers Market at JJ Byrne Park located just up the street from Get Fresh. Each person will bring home 2 pickled items and an herbed oil and vinegar. Signed copies of The Farmer's Market Cookbook will also be available for purchase.

Join us for a new series of cooking classes designed to improve your skills in the kitchen while taking advantage of the season's best produce from local farms. Classes are taught by Kim Pistone, an instructor, caterer and personal chef. Kim has been cooking professionally for 13 years. She learned the most about fresh, organic food in her grandmother's kitchens and gardens. Kim believes that a few solid techniques, quality ingredients, and trusting your instincts goes a long way. You'll agree after you take a couple classes with Kim!
november 19: thanksgiving sides
In this special holiday class, we'll focus on make-ahead Thanksgiving side dishes that will make holiday preparation easier, and are sure to impress! Classes are taught by professional chef and caterer Kim Pistone, who emphasizes the use of healthy ingredients and time-saving kitchen techniques.
November 19 - Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, and Sweet Potato Pie
In the second class we will be making stuffing from rustic whole grain bread with wild mushrooms and local greens. As an alternative to plain mashed potatoes we will be adding celery root and cauliflower to yukon gold potatoes and topping it with caramelized onions. We will be also be making an upside-down sweet-potato tart that is both savory and sweet.

Choose from making and decorating cupcakes or creating your own healthy pizzas.
